American Rag clothing splits into two different racks, and this is not the boutique one. The Los Angeles store built its name on designer denim and vintage finds; the label on our rack is for the thrift-store regular chasing an already-broken-in look - button-downs, tees, hoodies and sweaters for men and women dressing for a Saturday, not a showroom. Camo bomber jackets, a hooded denim vest and a patched pullover sweater cover outerwear and layering. The Ramsay patched button-up shirt leads the men's button-downs and tees, and a pattern-blocked hoodie sweatshirt covers cooler weekends. American Rag womens clothing adds a ruffle knit blouse, an off-the-shoulder shell blouse and a fit-and-flare dress, with an American Rag sweater in marled pullover knit for layering. Does American Rag still exist? Yes - American Rag Cie's flagship in Los Angeles has traded since 1984, when the store began importing vintage clothing, and the American Rag label carries that same vintage-inspired, thrown-together spirit into its sweaters and tees today. A Lucky Brand flannel sits one rack over for the same worn-in mood.
